Do You Think For Yourself?

The ability to take initiative, based upon ones own deduced conclusion is a very unique skill that many do not posses, wish to use or have yet to discover it and exploit it to its full potential.

Now that may seem rather contradicting and demoralising in some ways or another, but the sad facts of life is that many when presented with an opportunity, or an situation where a choice or decision has to be made, many will just conform and follow what everyone else is doing.

Luckily in this world, we also have many individuals who can take initiative and lead those who can’t.

So, you may be wondering, is Nigel just hot waffling again, or is there something that one must take note upon? Well I hope its the latter because were going to be discussing something that should be considered as quite important.

You see, in almost all practical applications of life i.e. driving a car, banking, shopping, visiting the mother in law, fashion, mundane daily tasks etc

We normally conduct them in a manner which could be described as orderly or conformity. In a lot of these tasks, there are set rules, regulations, legislations which we all abide too.

Of course some will argue that these aforementioned so called things to keep us in conformity have been set by others or governed for our health and safety or well-being, of which I could agree to a certain extent.

What this does highlight though, is this: do you own your own mind, actions, opinions, thoughts and perspectives? Do you actually own your own life at all?

Chances are the majority will think Im bonkers or have gone up the wall insane. The actual fact is that what I’ve noticed is the majority of us conform so much in our daily lives i.e. listen to other peoples, views and perspectives, that we never actually deduce what is true, what is false, whether the person who is influencing is correct, wrong, or the practices, rules they are teaching us are outdated or irrelevant.

Instead, we just follow them to the dot and allow their influences to shape our minds, perspectives, opinions and daily lives, which in one respect are good, but on the other hand, a shame really.

Why shame? You see… the majority of those who conform to the above, are denying themselves from something that is really truly wonderful, something that is unique to everyone one of us, and something that really makes us what we are. That is, the power of one’s, own thoughts and the ability to think for oneself.

I guess a possible explanation as to why many deny their own thoughts, is that, inquiring what somebody says publishes, or establishing and researching whether the piece of information is true or false is considered as especially tiring and time consuming.

To which, one would rather choose to ignore and just accept the information received without any validation or verification, as it is by far a much more, simpler and preferable option.

Now some would also disagree that the power of ones own views or thoughts is exceptionally dangerous, of which to such an extent, it would classify one as being or becoming self centred, egocentrically stubborn and not accepting others opinions or views even though it could be the solution.

In fact, quite the contrary, having ones own minds, views, perspectives and thought is healthy. Healthy in that one can deduce whether they choose to accept or reject something they hear, see or believe before coming to an conclusion, and deciding a final outcome which they will accept, follow through and take responsibility, even if they made an mistake.

Obviously, I’m not hinting that one should just reject entirely everything and only choose to accept their own, personal views, opinions, perspectives and thoughts. If you did, then that would be completely defeating the point of sub-chapter.

What I’m trying to say is that one should have the ability to deduce what they see, or hear, whether to believe or not believe, and if one is in any doubt, dont be afraid to, speak up, ask or question the issue, especially if it is something that will affect yours or anyone else’s life.

Then again, I understand there are those who wish to speak up or question, but they lack the confidence or have fear that if their revealed their true views or opinions, their friends will desert them faster than Usain bolts did his latest 100 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin 2009.

Just as like I was back in school, I was always afraid of answering questions especially the ones where it involved the teacher asking us for an opinion in regards to an excerpt of a play or a chapter in a book. If I were asked, I simply regurgitated similar comments to what others had previously said. Looking back it certainly did me no favours at all.

It’s like customers who visit my parents shop, occasionally you will see couples, whether they are young or old, one of them will be a dominant decider and the other will simply just go along with the decision.

You would think that it would be the men who would be more dominant in the deciding or controlling factor, and youre not far off either. There are lots of females customers who always respect their male partner and their decisions. If they want something extra, they always consult the partner as to whether they should be allowed it or not, despite they might be the one paying for it.

Surprisingly, to know though, there are a few couples where the roles are reversed i.e. the male partner would be paying, but he would consult his female partner for her advice, decision and respect it fully.

The possible plausible reasons as to why a submissive partner, agrees to whatever their dominant partner chooses to such an extent, where they would rather sacrifice their own opinions, needs and desires, is for the sake of a happy marriage and provide a happy childhood experience for the kid, which is a totally fully justifiable valid decision.

Although, one does question and wonder whether such a biased relationship of such an unbalance giving/receiving ratio has any effects or influence on the next generation?

Referring back to the main theme of this sub-chapter, thinking for oneself, and being able to speak up, when a necessary opportunity present itself, requires confidence.

Confidence is something that not many are born with naturally. It is developed over time, from personal experiences and overcoming of fear.

Just as if you were heading out to the sea. You first start off by walking on the beach as a little kid, and as the tides came rolling in, you become slightly nervous.

As the months or years go by, you then decide to play in the sea and start swimming. Then as your confidence starts to increase, you start surfing, windsurfing, and before you know it, your confidence has built so much; you simply jump on a jet ski or a motorboat and start exploring the nearby islands.

Another issue which has presented itself whilst I was typing the above paragraph is that traditional values can have a significant effect on one’s later life.

For example; my parents, unlike my uncles, aunts and cousins, I and my little brother was allowed to choose the educational and career path for myself. They on the other hand i.e. my uncles and aunts expected my cousins to become doctors, architects, accountants, pharmacists etc... .

Why?

The older generation passed on their beliefs, their practices, family rules, regulations and values which the following generation would have to follow and pass on to the next generation.

If my parents were stubborn or steadfast and insisted that I followed what the previous generations expected, then I wouldn’t be writing this book, I would certainly be doing a lot of overtime, probably had a wife and two kids by now and my life would be laborious repetitive and timetabled.

Sleep, eat, work, eat, work, see kids for 5 minutes, talk to wife, discuss issues, sleep. Rinse and repeat the next day! I certainly wouldn’t have met so many new friends from around the world and I certainly wouldn’t be able to pursue my dream which is to become an author/writer, and a successful entre-ebay-prenuer.

Not only, that, I wouldn’t be able to follow my passion for running a successful business, and to also have spare time to enjoy my hobbies which include listening and making music, reading books, taking lovely country road drives and more importantly having the freedom of not having to wake up 6am to go to work and come back at 8pm.

I certainly wouldn’t lead an happy life and so I thank my parents for not listening to what my grandparents had told them, but instead they choose to do raise me and my brother in their own way, of which many of my aunts, uncles and cousin envy.

That is, we were allowed to choose what we wanted, whether that is in daily choices, education or career, but it wasn’t all that case at first with regards to some issues, as you will discover later.

So, what has all this got to do with you? Well do you have a dream, do you have an ambition, and do you have you own opinions which you suppress?

Now is the time to let go of the barriers that are deterring you from your dream, your ambition. Let your mind step out of its comfort zone and express yourself.

Be yourself and think for yourself. Stop relying on others to form an opinion or how you should live your life or how you should approach things. Respect their views, ideas, perspectives and opinions, but certainly don’t be afraid to make your own.

By all means you can take them with a pinch of salt, but in life, ultimately it’s up to you to form your own ideas, your own opinions, you own views, your own perspectives, and when you do, believe in them too. It is what makes each and everyone individual and unique.

You are not a kid anymore. You are an adult, you are allowed to form your own ideas, your own opinions, you own views, your own perspectives, your own values. If you stand and live by them, people will be less inclined to pressure you and respect you more instead. If they do challenge you, challenge them back.

People who say they have the “gift of the gabb”, or they “talk the talk”, “walk the walk”. Don’t let that fool you; they are just like you and me. They are just as scared as being found out like you are and they are possibly hiding behind a disguise, a lie or even multiple lies.

Additionally when they get challenged by you or anyone, they start fearing more, so if you have any suspicions or queries, just keep asking questions, but make sure you know what to ask and have everything planned and sorted in your own head first. If you do, you would already be at an advantage.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you that you don’t do the following: that is if you have developed your own set of ideas, views, opinions, perspectives or moral values, don’t go changing them everyday or go back and forth with them, otherwise nobody would believe in you and you would have no credibility.

I personally learned the hard way with my Internet Marketing business and so I now have to rebuild it all back again, which is a lot easier said that done.

Finally, where would you be without this key ingredient: CONFIDENCE! Confidence in one’s own ideas, views, opinions, perspectives, values is important and to be fair it’s like a game/ To quote from John Bird the founder of “The Big Issue”, a magazine published and then sold by homeless people to raise money for themselves,

“….confidence is really a big trick that everyone’s playing on everyone else”

So, to finally conclude this sub-chapter, you now know that thinking for yourself is wonderful, it’s also something many don’t choose to use which is a shame and that confidence is a game which you can play too. However there is one last thing that I almost forget and that is:

“You can have all the confidence in the world, and although you maybe able to think for yourself. Ultimately, it’s what you do afterwards that really matters.”

There is no point having the ability to think for yourself, and deduce you own and other’s ideas, views, opinions, perspectives and moral values, when you don’t respect them, stick to them or follow it through, even when a mistake happens!

More importantly, don’t become so totally engrossed in your own idea views, opinions, perspectives and moral values that you disregard and reject everything without consideration. If you do, you will only become stubborn and for that, I suggest that you may want to consider re-reading this chapter again, or put the book down.

Additionally, I apologies in advance to you for my incompetence of not being able to explain this sub-chapter more clearly, and for wasting your time, should such an event occur.

Where To Find The Best Books On The Law of Attraction

Is there such a thing as coincidence? Why do bad days always seem to get worse and worse? Isn't it funny when you hit a streak of good luck and everything you want just seems to fall into place? These questions are all addressed in books and movies about the law of attraction. According to various authors, the universal laws of attraction have been in place for centuries and these laws are the secret to life. If you can learn to harness the power of your mind and create your own destiny, then there's no reason why you can't have everything you want.

Rhonda Byrne, a writer and television producer from Australia, produced a film called "The Secret"; it quickly gained widespread popularity. One year afterward, Byrne put out her book by the same name to elaborate on the information in her film. The Secret book is basically a new age, self-help book rooted in centuries-old ideas that state, "If you think it, you can own it."

The power of positive thinking has been helping individuals gain material goods, well being and joy since the time of Sir Isaac Newton, Victor Hugo and Ludwig Van Beethoven, the book claims. Modern day teachers discuss realistic techniques to reorganize your thought processes to draw positive results your way. Following its release, The Secret has sold in excess of 2 million volumes and has caught the attention of big names including Oprah Winfrey, Paris Hilton and Ellen Degeneres.

Some law of attraction book authors were featured in The Secret, such as Joe Vitale, Bob Proctor and Jack Canfield. Their books feature law of attraction tips, tools and stories to help you learn more about the law of attraction. For instance, you might be wondering, "What is the difference between thinking about something, wishing for something and creating a pattern of positive thinking that will make something happen?" You may be wondering what changes you can make to your life that will turn around your most destructive, negative thoughts. These books will give you more points to ponder and help you apply the laws to your own life to get what you desire most.

Most people buy books about the law of attraction not just so they can grasp the concepts, but also so they can understand the living law of attraction and how to apply the lessons to their lives. It's one thing to hear a story about how a man wished for his dream house -- and received it -- but it's another thing to translate the secrets of the law of attraction to help get that ideal relationship or raise at work. A good way to find these books is to visit www.amazon.com, type "law of attraction books" into the search engine and choose "Sort by Bestselling" or "Sort by Customer Rating."

The belief behind the universal laws of attraction is that if you have a positive outlook and desire good things to come to you, they will. You have to train your mind in how to use the law of attraction and, like a magnet, those things will come to you.

Choosing The Right Mastermind Group To Help You Propel Yourself To Greater Success

One thing which really increases the chance of long term success is having a support system. Typically when you think about your support system you will think about the people closest to you and whether they "are there for you" or not.

So often I see clients say they want to grow their practice, but don't have a support system. The people who are closest to them are the very ones encouraging them not to change. It was okay when your business was seen as a "hobby" and did not interfere with other parts of your life. As long as your practice did not inconvenience them, everything was okay.

Your family and friends might not understand your desire for success. Being misunderstood is very frustrating. Eventually, you stop talking to them about what you are doing because they just don't understand. Even though these are people you care deeply about, protect yourself and try to limit your contact with anyone who cannot support your goals. Look at the company you are keeping, do they support you or not?

What effect do these people have on you? They will either life you up or bring you down. If you are not receiving support from the people you spend the most time with, what will happen when you are faced with challenges which are out of your league? Who will be there with you when you need to take that leap of faith in order to continue growing your practice? And the biggest question, how do you feel about all of this?

If this is what you are experiencing, it is important you find people who are like-minded and have a similar desire for success. They are out there. When you are ready you will begin to take the steps to connect with them. Affiliating with other people who also have a mindset for success is very invigorating. They understand your desire for something bigger and want the best for you.

When I was reading Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" I was intrigued by his use of a mastermind group. Up until then I might have practiced having a mastermind group, but did not know there was an actual term for it. The value of surrounding yourself with people who are genuinely interested in your success and wellbeing is priceless. There is a comfort which comes from consulting with people who have your best interests at heart and are willing to be honest with you.

If you are thinking BIG and ready to grow your practice, make sure you have people who truly support what you do. Your supports are your mastermind group. They might be individuals, a lay led group of like-minded people or a group of business owners all working together with a coach.

I have tried all of them and have found being part of a mastermind group led by a coach is best. Each of the group members have invested in the mastermind. Paying money to work with a coach increases the perceived value. The mastermind is sharing the journey with you. You will be more likely to follow through on assignments and to step out of your comfort zone when working in a supportive group setting.

My mastermind group gets together to network, grow and share ideas. It would be easy to view some of them as my competition, but I have long held the belief that there is enough clients out there for everyone. Instead we have created relationships which focus on collaboration.

Sure, I could have grown my practice on my own without being in a mastermind group. My goal was to have accelerated growth. So I made the choice to surround myself and be coached by someone who already reached goals which were similar to mine. Having a mentor and being in a mastermind group was very attractive.

You are much more likely to really reach your goals by spending time with people who are like-minded. Connect with someone who you view as a role model. Invest in a mentor, a coach or a mastermind. It is an investment, but the return on your investment can be substantial if you have the mindset for success.

Do you find that you are not reaching your true potential? You can learn to transform your struggles and master the marketing mindset. Loren Fogelman, success expert, will show you step-by-step how to gain confidence, feel empowered and achieve your true potential. The transformation is so profound you will wonder what has been holding you back all this time. Receive Loren's FREE E-book, "Tapping Into Emotional Freedom" at http://mindsetformarketingsuccess.com

How To Have A Better Memory

Sometimes forgetting can be a small issue like not remembering your associate's birthday. But after that it might be your anniversary or where you left your car keys. We all suffer moments when we forget things.

We don't all have natural incredible memories. But we can learn techniques that can help us to remember much more than we think we are capable of. Below are a few ways you can use to help improve your memory.

Healthy eating can help you to remember better. Getting the proper protein, vitamins and minerals will keep your body and mind healthier than if you did not eat properly. Also, foods such as fish have been called "brain" foods.

Learn how you remember best. If you wrote a list of things to do, does saying the list out loud cause you to remember better. Try it and see. Just hearing the list may very well help you in storing the information inside your brain.

Try improving your association ability. We want to make it easier for our brain to memorize things and the best way to do this is by associating words or things you want to remember with things that you already know. So when the two are connected, all you need to do is remember what you know already and the other thing will be remembered as well. Want to remember where you left your keys. When you get home and you place your keys on the kitchen table, immediately associate the kitchen table with your keys. Imagine throwing your keys on the table and the table explodes because your keys were a bomb.

Associating and visualizing in your mind words or objects together form the basics of all memory improvement techniques. You can turn numbers into words as well and turn the words into pictures. So practice associating any two items together and then try a list of 5 items. Associate the first to the second and the second to the third until you have them all memorized like a movie in your head.

How To Use Your Creative Mind Power

The great difference between the big winners in life and almost everyone else lies in their skill and capacities in solving problems. And you could be one of these big winners, too! Like them, you came out into this universe prepared and provided with the natural and inherent power in solving these problems. Our subconscious mind, which is the seat of our feelings and emotions, is the important aspect to everything. And you just have to learn how to tap your creative mind power to deal and manage your problems and difficulties successfully. As a matter of fact, it is very possible for you in programming and orienting your mental computer to face and deal any problems which you might come across.

Therefore, if you would be able to unlock your creative mind power, you would then be able to control it to your infinite good. Two of the world's geniuses like Thomas Edison and Sir Isaac Newton, are great examples of how they learned to utilize the power of their creative minds. In the case of Thomas Edison, the amazing amount of persistence he exhibited and demonstrated in his quest to invent and bring about the electric bulb is a legendary feat. But in spite of numerous obstacles, he was unfazed and never flustered because he was always convinced that each problem has a solution.

According to the official biographer of Sir Isaac Newton, the exceptionally talented physicist and mathematician had a unique gift: he possessed the skill and capability in holding a problem continuously in his thoughts until he had seen it through. Sir Isaac Newton shared the same mindset with Thomas Edison; he knew all problems had solutions. He also knew and realized that all he needed to do in order to reach and come to a practicable solution was through the power of his creative mind. You can also learn how to tap your creative mind power and may become a genius.

Or, you could, at least perform or function like one. The potential to become a genius is there. When we are focusing on our problems, the preoccupation with them enlarges them to proportions vastly larger than they are in reality. It might take some time in solving our problems, and the solutions might not be precisely be pleasurable and comfortable. When we hit creative mind power in order to look for a solution, then the problem would be solved. Actually, practical and effective solutions oftentimes need you to invest added effort to carry them out. But when you use your creative mind power, you will see that great solutions to the problems are just there all the while.

There are strategies and techniques to help you develop and enhance your natural innate competencies to conquer any problem you would ever come across. It could never be said frequently enough: you have within you the skill and power in solving each and every problem. When you have adopted this firm belief that you can hurdle any challenge, then you have finally reached the beginning on the path to successful living.

Make Each Day A Good One

I'd like to share with you, a simple story that teaches a profound lesson. It's about a young boy and his dad who were out walking one day.

It was a beautiful day, but the ground was rocky and as the two climbed a steep hill the boy tripped and injured himself. He yelled out in pain. He was puzzled by his yelling resounding back to him. The boy, no longer concerned about his injury, was fascinated by this and called back, "Who are you?" He was rewarded by a bounce back of his question. The boy then began to send different messages to the mountain, some threatening, some admiring, just anything, to see what might happen. Whatever message he sent out to the mountain, the exact message bounced back.

The son was confused and asked his father what was going on. His dad explained that what he was hearing was in fact, an echo. "But," he warned, "it is much more than that. This is very much like life itself. The echo that you are hearing gives back to you, whatever message you send".

The boy was confused. The father then went on to explain the parallel. He told his son that if we want to create more love in the world we must allow more love in our hearts. If we want more compassion, then we must be compassionate. If we are part of a team and the team is less than competent, then it is up to us to take the initiative, to be in the driver's seat, and through appropriate attitude, promote more competence.

"Whatever you achieve in life," said his father "is a direct reflection of the kind of person you are. If you work to be the best person you can be, your life will be accordingly enriched. You see, your life is not a coincidence. Rather, it's a reflection of you, of your actions, of your attitude to the world."

So how does this simple analogy relate to you and me in our everyday living? Let's see. Have you ever got out of bed in the morning, in a bad mood, to find that everything that day went against you? It didn't matter what you did, either at home or work, everything appeared to be out of kilter.

You know, whether you like it or not, that was your choice! The reason for your bad attitude is unimportant, but choosing to have one is extremely important. Your mood set the pattern for the day. Because of it you found everything to complain about, the traffic congestion, the elevator at work not functioning, and the coffee being cold. The list could go on!

Now try to imagine that same day once more. Decide to embrace an absolutely positive, unshakable attitude for the rest of the day. Are you ready? Now, you get into your car for work and ten minutes into your journey you find that there has been an accident on the road and traffic is banked up. Consequently your journey to work has slowed down to a snail's pace. You refuse to be upset! It just means that now you have time to listen to the news on the radio, maybe stretch your vocal cords on one of your favourite songs, or think about a work-related problem that is waiting for you to deal with in the office.

Later, when you get to work, you have to climb the stairs because the elevator has mal-functioned. You reason to yourself that at least you're doing some exercise. Your heart-beat is elevated and you're using up energy. At last you reach the fifth storey of the building where you work. By that time you have decided that you could really do this every day, given that you don't use a walking stick or need a wheel chair! You grab a well-earned coffee. It turns out to be lukewarm. "So what?" you think. "Some people can't afford a cup of coffee. So you drink the coffee and are thankful that you have the money to buy it in the first place. Life isn't too bad.

So you see, what started off as a potentially bad day, ended up being an exceptionally good one. You made not one, but a series of good choices to see the positives in so many of your situations, the choice to put up with things, the choice to smile and be in a good mood, the choice to see the other side of the equation, the choice to echo something good to the world at large. Bet your bottom dollar, when you demonstrated that positive attitude, everyone noticed. I'll bet too, that the people working with you were more productive that day. That's right! Your attitude would have had a profound effect on their attitude. That's a bit of a scary thought is it not?

So next time you feel that the world owes you something, next time you feel grumpy, why not stop and turn it around and ask what you owe the world? Be assured that your debt to the world will far outweigh anything the world owes you. And always be mindful that any messages that you send out on any day, will surely be echoed right back to you.

Decide to make each day a good one and see where life takes you.

The Power Of A Positive Mental Attitude

"No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new heaven to the human spirit." - Helen Keller

According to the Law of Attraction, we are all creators, attracting into our lives whatever we focus on - whether we want it or not. In order to become a deliberate creator and attract what you do want rather than what you don't want, a good place to start is by choosing a positive mental attitude. With a positive mental attitude, you can attract whatever you desire - including financial abundance, joyous relationships and paradise health.

Attitude is Everything. Attitude is defined as a complex mental state involving beliefs, feelings, values and dispositions to act in certain ways. Attitude is a habit of thought, such as Life is hard or Life is fun. According to the Law of Attraction, our patterns of thought act as powerful attractors. Do you have limiting beliefs such as I can't / I'm not worthy / Nothing ever works out for me? Basically, any belief, thought, or attitude that restricts or disempowers you - any thought that feels bad when you think it - is blocking the natural flow of Well-Being that would otherwise be yours. As you uncover attitudes that are not serving your highest good, you can consciously choose thoughts that contribute to your happiness rather than undermine it. Our lives are expanded or limited by our attitude of what we believe is possible or not possible. My ten-year old neighbor loves the expression - It could happen! Without the slightest understanding of the Law of Attraction, he is transmitting good feeling vibrations and attracting good feeling circumstances. A shift in attitude about how life works transforms everything.

You Can Choose Your Attitude. Did you know that you can choose how you feel and what you believe? You decide whether to see your world as full or empty, positive or negative. Anything can be viewed as positive. Do you remember Pollyanna from the classic children's book or the Walt Disney movie? Pollyanna is a young girl who is adopted by her aunt after her father dies. As an orphan, she could have easily given in to sadness and negativity. However, she is determined to see the good side of everything. Through her relentless attitude of joy and positive expectation, Pollyanna transforms a dispirited town into a pleasant and healthy place. The lesson here is that, no matter what your situation, you can always find positive aspects by choosing to be cheerful and optimistic.

At the end of the book, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Chris asks his Dad if it's hard to take care of a motorcycle. Dad responds - Not if you have the right attitude. It's having the right attitude that's hard. Ah, yes - Attitude is Everything! Well, happily, as we choose Feel Good Thoughts over Feel Bad Thoughts, it gets easier to have the right attitude. With a positive mental attitude, Life is no longer hard. Life is FUN!
