Positive Personal Development

Author: Tomas Labas

I'm sure you have a bright personal development idea hidden somewhere in the back of your mind that you just can't wait to test out. Of course you're not the only one with the bright idea. So what motivates you to churn those creative, or even inspiring juices to its utmost flavor?

It's always best to set up a personal goal where you can accomplish the most in record time, maybe like mowing the lawn in an hour before the big game on TV. A correct and positive attitude in whatever you do will make personal development easier, and even enjoyable.

Here are some personal development tips to make it through the week even if you're just sitting in your favorite couch. An idea takes time to form in your head and is always at work while you are busy sitting.

Having a bit of positive thinking can help you realize things that are never thought possible. Thinking big is indeed the way of thinking that made people prosperous.

Take passionate action towards living your life by design. Talk is cheap. Action = deposits in the bank of a passionately authentic future. Without it, passion is void.

This is a perfect example where personal development is made of where you start by tinkering with your mind, then with your hands. And if the idea weakens, you can always go back to it later until you finish it.

Commit to your personal development as well as those you love to create powerfully a life you can love. Instead of reacting, commit to creating from your heart and soul, out of love rather than fear. The American Dream will always be there, but a dream will still be a dream without motion. Be amazed as the transformation begins.

Recognize and embrace the thought that each moment is perfect regardless of its outcome. Every time you hit on something that may appear too extreme, why not give it a shot and see if it will work. You will be surprised to see of there are other ways to get the task done in time. If you are not pleased with the outcome of your personal development, decide to use that moment to learn from and make the appropriate shift.

Dwell completely in a place of gratitude. Learn to utilize what you have in your hands and make use of it in the most constructive personal development way. Slipping into neediness will become less of a habit when you repeatedly shift towards gratitude, away from poverty consciousness.

Use a Passion Formula of Recognize/Reevaluate/Restore in place of the Shoulda/Woulda/Coulda whirlwind. The former is based in increased knowledge and abundance while the latter focuses on scarcity and lack. As you face people or tasks that may seem harder than scaling the summit of the Himalayas, allow yourself to realize that the task is just as important as giving out orders to your subordinates. You would rather be richly passionate!

Believe that you are the architect of your destiny. No one can take personal development of your passionate future from you except for you! Create your life authentically. As long as there's still breath in your body, there is no end to how much you can accomplish in a lifetime. The concept of thinking big is all about enjoying your work, which would lead to celebrate a discovery that is born within your hands. Watch everything flow into place with perfect, passionate precision.

It's interesting how people get wallowed up by something trivial as learning to use a computer, when nowadays that top computer companies are manufacturing software that even the kids can do it. I don't mean to be condescending, but that's the idea of not having any positive thinking in your life-you'll just end up as a dim bulb in a dark corner. So instead of subjecting yourself to what you will be doomed for, make your path by taking the first step with a positive personal development.

Personal Development - The Importance Of Attitude

While it may seem that a person's attitude and their personal development goals and achievements are very different things, for most people they are actually strongly influenced by one another. Without the right mental attitude, achieving anything is an uphill battle that is more difficult than it has to be.

Changing a mental attitude for the better is something that can affect all aspects of a person's life. It can allow one to feel in control of life and give a person the self esteem to make the changes desired.

Improving Your Attitude

If personal development begins with changing a mental attitude, attitude changing begins by believing that it can be changed. Many people accept a negative attitude as being a normal part of their lives instead of a choice that has been made. It is vital to successfully meeting personal development goals to make the choice to have a positive attitude.

With a positive mental attitude, just about anything is possible. Each day the decision can be made to see everything positively, even if the day doesn't go quite as planned. Looking at everything through this outlook makes experiences better and the future seem brighter.

Once the decision is made to see things positively and to carry a mental attitude that reflects that, throughout the day, goals that may have seemed far-fetched before will seem reachable. This means better success in achieving goals and a happier outlook on life.

Self Improvement

Part of achieving any goal is to believe that you can achieve it. Using self affirmations that help to reinforce positive ideas can help you to have a more positive attitude. This, then, makes goal setting easier. Keep telling yourself that you are able to meet these goals with your own skills and talents.

With goals in mind, it is possible to take positive action toward self improvement. Setting short-term and long-term goals can help along the way, providing plenty of milestones to meet in order to build self confidence.

Self confidence is essential in the business world, but that confidence doesn't always come from the business world. Sometimes, self confidence is dependent on very personal criteria. It may be a weight loss goal, a personal skill-set goal or another personal achievement that can give you the confidence to make achievements in business.

Staying Motivated

With confidence and a good attitude comes motivation. Seeing the end goal and believing that it can be met is a great motivator to get things done. To continue to stay on track, continue setting goals after the first goals are met. They may be small things to accomplish, but they are milestones that can be met and conquered for your own self esteem and personal development.

Home Study Courses For Personal Development

The number of people undertaking home study courses is set to rise, with growing numbers looking to distance learning as an effective way of improving their knowledge and skill set.

Home study is becoming the most effective way of learning for many people, due to the adaptability of the courses to fit around the needs and personal timetables of students.

And its rise can be linked to the spiralling costs associated with gaining a university education - particularly important during these recession hit times.

Of all the learning options available - full and part-time university degrees, night classes and college courses - home study is amongst the most flexible, as the student sets the timetable not the lecturers or teachers who run the course.

That makes it easy for students to start learning on their terms by fitting their study around the demands of family life and working hours.

Home study courses are available for all manner of subjects, from the common GCSEs and A Levels through to more specialist training covering aspects of management, accountancy and bookkeeping, communication skills, childcare, health and fitness, education, health and fitness plus much more.

Undertaking these courses can bring a number of benefits. As well as improving knowledge and increasing skills within a chosen discipline, home study can lead to a more important role in the workplace.

Likewise, updated CVs featuring new courses and degrees put applicants in a positive light and can make them a more attractive proposition to potential employees.

This is particularly important at a time when unemployment figures are rising. Anything that that can be done to make a CV stand out is essential, due to the fierce competition for each and every vacancy.

Home study courses may have been available for many years but they are currently coming to the fore - not only due to their adaptability to personal circumstances but also through learning institutes understanding how to utilise the benefits of the Internet.

Now distance learning can be delivered through an Internet connection, with dedicated learning websites offering lectures and resources and some even delivering podcasted discussions. Email has also revolutionised communications, making it easy to get in touch with lecturers and tutors for advice.

In fact, so successful has the impact on the web been on distance learning that it has been mooted that in the near future that all university learning could be delivered in this format - certainly the Internet is set to continue having a major effect on the way in which learning is delivered.

Home study is becoming the method of choice for many looking to improve their knowledge and make themselves a more attractive candidate to potential employers.

Creating Your Personal Development

A person who does not have his own personal development plan is someone who has no single idea about what he wants in life and someone who is clueless on where he is going. This type of person usually ends up as nothing.

Here are some pointers on how to create your own personal development plan.

First is to have self awareness. You have to know yourself and recognize the emotions and qualities you have while doing a certain task. Doing this helps you learn the good qualities that you need to maintain and the undesirable ones that you need to work on.

Next is to know what you want in life. Set your goals in life and list the things that you need to do for you to achieve them. Be specific and realistic about your goals. Rank them according to their importance. Know your skills and use them to achieve your goals.

You should also manage your time wisely. Know your priorities. Be organized and focus on your tasks one at a time. Managing your time effectively includes being able to schedule your activities according to their importance, organizing your tasks, and estimating the amount of time that you need to spend on a certain task. Managing your time wisely results to beating the deadline with a high-quality output.

Motivate yourself to start taking action. Visualize yourself being successful in the future, with all your goals achieved. Imagine how you would feel if you're able to accomplish great things in life. Think about the people who inspire you the most and employ the things that you have learned from them.

Last is to implement your plans. Prepare yourself with whatever it is that may come your way. Stay focused, and make some contingency plans, if necessary.

Having your own personal development plan shows how connected or involved you are about your life in the future. Create your own plan and use them as your guide as you go along. Let it direct you to that wonderful life that you dream about.

Personal Development - Tips On Developing Confidence

Many philosophies say that we are born with everything that we need. They say that life is about learning to relax and take things in our stride. That attitude is all well and good, but when we perceive that our 'everything that we need' is inferior to someone elses', and that everyone else seems to have been dealt a better hand, then that mindset can feel a little simplistic or even unfair. This can then be the time that stress levels rise and anxiety and uneasiness start to manifest themselves.

Children start out as confident creatures, but they are also pack animals and like to fit in and be accepted as one of, or even better than the rest of the pack. Childrens disposable income is massive and they spend much of it on buying uniform products, clothes, games, snacks, to reinforce their confidence levels and be part of the gang.

Over times things happen that can give ones confidence a knock. Small events, like answering a question incorrectly, or not being picked for something, can start to erode that feeling of invincibility. Having a supportive understanding family or an ally can help to put these experiences into context, as part of life and an important lesson that sometimes things do not go our way and learn how to cope and deal with it. If that support is missing then a child can start to take things personally and feel perhaps inferior to or less than those around him.

When this occurs several things can result. Sometimes the young person may retreat into themselves and become something of a loner, or they may decide to prove have good they are and become extra motivated to achieve. Sometimes there may be a mixture of different behaviours and reactions to a variety of triggers. There are many different and complex ways that a person learns to adapt and adjust to their personal circumstances.

Learning to understand ourselves and our reactions to triggers in life is an important key to success. If we come to realise that our reaction to a particular situation is disproportionate to the event itself, or is more extreme than other peoples, then maybe learn to stop, and examine what is going on within us. Why does certain behaviour prompt such a response? Often there is a reason, a story behind the reaction. Understand the 'why' and the 'what' behind it all, and then regain some control over those types of situations.

Negative behaviour patterns often have a learned behaviour element to them. Often over their life people deduce or have been told things like 'people like us should not / cannot expect success', or 'it is not right to ask for/ expect things', or even ' you will not amount to anything' or 'it is your brother/sister who is the golden child'. Some of these things may have been said, some may have been implied. We need to watch out for when these negative response patterns are triggered, the ' I do not deserve to succeed because...' mentality.

Using counselling and hypnotherapy, a large part of my role with clients is to help them heal and move on from the negative messages and lessons from early life and to appreciate that each of us is unique and special in our own way. The truth is that we often have to be that bit older to understand how valuable being unique is. As a child we often hate the idea of been different with a passion.

So some exercises that help build personal confidence and self belief are; - Have a happy book or a success book. Write in today's date and then three good things that have been either witnessed or achieved each day. This helps to focus the mind in a positive way and also builds a bank of good things to refer back to whenever necessary. - Talk to people, more than just about the weather. Most people will respond positively and that helps to build up social skills. - Stay clean and tidy. When we are smart we feel better and taller. - Look up. It makes a difference, stops too much introspection. - Do one thing off your want/ personal list everyday - Exercise, you meet people and get fit - If you are trying to find a job, do voluntary work to get some up to date skills for your C.V., or offer to work for a trial period for free. The vast majority of jobs are not advertised, so by being out there and active you may find a job by the back door route.

It is true that the most valuable lessons in life are the ones that were tough to learn. The difficult times, with hindsight, were the most poignant and effective. It is just remembering that at the time!

Susan Leigh is a Counsellor and Hypnotherapist who works with - stressed individuals to promote confidence and self belief, - couples in crisis to help improve communications and understanding - with business clients to help support the health and motivation levels of individuals and teams

Personal Development: Tips For Effective Communication

Communication has less to do with actual words and more to do with preparation, follow up and body language. Physical communication (person to person in the flesh) includes many different things to consider. Voice communication is different from physical communication for obvious reasons. Written communication has certain advantages for the writer, as he/she can really think through what they are trying to convey to the reader. But preparation, follow up and body language are very much related to all of the above types of communicating.

Obviously, the more one is prepared for something, like a meeting, the more it is likely they will know what to say and when to say it. If I try to give a seminar on commercial real estate to a local real estate investors club, I could easily be asked a question and not have the answer. However, if I do not prepare at all for it, the likelihood that this will happen increases very much. Being prepared means knowing or at least attempting to know what to expect. I was never a boy scout, but I know their motto is "Be prepared." This makes perfect sense. The more prepared you are, the more confidence you demonstrate to others.

Follow up. Follow up. Follow up! In life, the better you are at following up on things, the easier things seem. It's funny how you can expect things to just go your way or happen as planned. Make no mistake, follow up is an important part of communication. Think about the follow up call a guy gives a girl (or vise versa), on a Tuesday, after getting the number on that past Saturday night. Sure, there is that "mandatory" waiting period, but the follow up is key to extending further communication. Without it, communication breakdown begins and before you know it, a month has passed and when you go to call the person, they don't [or don't want] to remember your name!

If you're closing on a piece of real estate, you depend on many different parties to get things done. The lender, title and insurance company, inspectors, appraisers and the like, must come together to help you close the deal. Follow up is so important on your part! Making calls and sending emails to the various parties involved will only better your chances of a smooth closing. You must follow up.

Body language involves the eyes, head, body and general appearance of a person. A very intense look consists of eye contact and possibly some nodding of the head accompanied by leaning forward. Compare this to a person leaning back in their chair and yawning as you speak. Different body "tones" send different messages to the receiver. Making a point to make eye contact can go a long way in developing rapport with people. By conveying positive body language, you're showing the receiver you are a person with motivation, confidence, and strength.

These are three basic communication tips, but they'll go a long way toward improving your overall effectiveness. Effective communication does depend on the confidence you show but you build confidence if you develop these basic skills. Being prepared cannot be stressed enough! The more you prepare for a speech, conversation, or networking/social gathering, the more confident you will be. That is a fact!

The Critical Factors in Personal Development

Have you ever woken up and felt that something was amiss? You can't put your finger on what exactly is wrong, you just know something is missing in your life. Have you ever thought about who you are and where are you going? These kinds of thoughts are usually to do with the fact that you are not satisfied with your life.

When it comes to altering things around in your life you might have very little specifically to go on. Some people are great at having a fixed goal like losing weight or quitting smoking, but for many unfocused people it's difficult for them to focus on any specific goal and so get overwhelmed with details. It is important to take stock of yourself and understand what is going on in your life and what you have to change.

The benefit of personal development is that it can support the positive aspect of you and let the negative part of you whither away. Personal Development, in general, helps you maintain a more harmonious disposition. Your emotional processes, values, beliefs and everything you hold dear are interconnected. When you hold a holistic approach to yourself it will improve your being as a whole. Personal development is the key to establishing important and fulfilling relationships.

There is much to be gained from personal development other than the physical goal itself. There are many people that become disgruntled because they have not quite reached the level of personality they want to be at. The thing is that the feeling of disappointment is the first stage of self awareness. The fact is it is self awareness that forms the bedrock of personal development.

Self awareness is when you start to understand how you work on a mental and physical level. Understanding yourself is when you can take action to correct the defects that you have spotted. Basically it's a voyage of self discovery. When you have returned from the voyage you are wiser and more confident in yourself. Self awareness is great for revealing what you can accomplish in your life.

Only a few people truly understand the significance of self awareness. The important thing to remember is that once you have developed it to a high level you can plan the way you challenge your goals more successfully. It is about mastering growth and development. Self awareness gives you the ability to master your surroundings to the best of your capability.

It is not easy gaining positive personal development through self awareness because it is not always easy to take a good honest inventory of yourself as you may not like what you see. The fact is that by taking a good long hard look at yourself is what you need to do if you want to change any negative aspect of yourself. You need to see what needs to be changed. Without the skill of self awareness you will never be that different person you wish to be. Always remember self awareness is part and parcel of personal development. You cannot have personal development without self awareness. So don't hesitate take an inventory of yourself and be the confident and positive person you deserve to be!

Personal Development And Success

Author: Michael McGrath

Can Personal Development really help? Can Self Improvement show you how to build a better life? How can being successful at your personal development goals lead to having more success in achieving my goals in life in areas such as career, relationships, health and finances? Well, a personal development goal and a life goal are really one and the same thing. The whole idea of personal development is to better yourself and your improve your own personal world. Therefore, setting and achieving personal development goals will ensure that you begin to lead a successful happy life.

You may not now know how to proceed. So what type of personal development goals should you set? How do you start to develop self improvement goals that will lead you to freedom, a deeper feeling of happiness, help you achieve a better lifestyle and ultimately create more success in your life? This question is not simple to answer because success means different things to different people. Therefore, if you want to become successful you must first have a clear understanding of what success means to you!

A fantastic way to get a clear on what success means for you is to ask yourself the question, "what would I do if I knew I couldn't fail?" Let your mind roam freely and immerse yourself in your inner vision. This vision will give you the clue that you need to unravel the mystery of success.

From the moment a person is born he/she has a natural ability to know what it is they want and a belief that they can have it. We develop dreams and ambitions at a very early age. However as we grow older we are conditioned to believe that these dreams are not possible or are mere fantasies of our imagination. You are directed to get a good education so that you can find a good job that will allow you to get a mortgage, get married, have kids and live a 'normal' life. By the time most people reach their mid twenties they have all but given up on their dreams or even forgotten what those dreams are. They have become conditioned into believing that they are incapable of achieving what they want in life. This fundamental belief forms the foundation of their self image and the rest of their mental attitudes are build upon it!

It is the role of personal development and self improvement to remove these conditioned mental attitudes from your inner mind and free you to pursue the life course that you chose for yourself. BY using self improvement methods and personal development tools it is possible to begin removing today the negative mental programming you recieved from well-meaning peers, family, friends and teachers. In addition you will also be directed to remove all those negative mental attitudes that have been given to you by not so well-meaning people and those you have developed yourself through negative life experiences. Although this is not always an easy or pleasurable journey to take the rewards that you will experience from taking it are immeasurable and make it truly worthwhile.

The freedom that you can experience from removing just one negative mental and negative emotional pattern is akin to the feeling of rest and tranquillity you feel after extreme physical exercise. Removing numerous negative mental attitudes and emotional stress from your mind and body is a feeling and experience that is truly hard to describe to someone who has never experienced it themselves.

Jesus Christ said, "seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you": Matthew 6:33. By removing the negative mental and emotional attitudes from your mind you free yourself to reach your goals. Let me explain.

Let us say you decide to set a goal to be financially free. There are thousands of different ways to achieve this goal. There are thousands of methods you could follow and plans you could set in motion that would bring you closer to this goal. Millions of people have gone from rags to riches. So, why does following a plan work for one person and the same plan will not work for another?

It is due entirely to the difference in attitude and mental conditioning!

There are at your disposal numerous personal development and self improvement methods that are designed to help you achieve this goal. Now these tools and methods are not designed to show you the way to become financially free but instead are designed to free you from your own inner resistance to being financially free. Many people think this is a waste of time and would prefer to be given step by step instructions to build financial wealth and I was once one of them. However, it didn't matter how much effort I used or how many 'guaranteed' formulas I followed my financial situations did not improve and many times actually grew worse.

Why was this? Were the plans I was following just not good enough to create wealth? Were the people peddling these rags to riches methods merely conning me out of my money? Was gaining wealth just pure luck like winning the lottery?

The answer to all of the above questions is no!

The plans I followed had worked for thousands and made them rich! The people selling me the products and methods had all made their fortunes using the very same techniques they were trying to teach me! It was only after a great deal of hradship and many learning lessons that I discovered the truth - gaining wealth has nothing to do with being lucky!

It wasn't that these things were not good enough to produce the wealth I craved it was that I THOUGHT I wasn't good enough. When you hold a negative self image and have a negative view of yourself and your abilities it is very difficuly to achieve success no matter how much effort you put into it! This is why it is of paramount importance to first remove the negative conditioning that is holding you back in life.

Your attitude, which is only composed of thoughts and feelings, is responsible for your actions. Thought is the creator of action! Every action you perform, no matter how small or big, first begins in your mind as a thought. Each thought begins as a feeling. Think of when you met your last partner. You first felt the attraction. This developed into a thought or series of thoughts about meeting the person. Then you performed some action to make that happen. Think of the last time you went out socializing. You had the feeling that you would like to have some fun, or be with your friends, were feeling lonely etc. Then you had the thought. Then you performed the action.

If your actions are motivated by your thoughts and feelings and your attitude is composed of thoughts and feelings do you think you could succeed at a given task if you hold a negative mental attitude about it or your ability to succeed at it?

Once you embrace personal development and begin to use any of the myriad of self improvement tools to remove your negative mental attitudes you will naturally find yourself becoming more successful in life. You actions will be more positive and you will unconsciously perform the correct actions that will lead you to success. I am sure you can know see how important it is to set some personal development goals. Not only will you see improvement in your self, you will also see many symptoms of success added unto you!
